The North Briton

The Four Pillars

What we cover, and why it matters

Four foundations for a stronger, freer life. Pick a pillar and start building.

I — Pillar One

Culture & traditional values

A people who forget where they came from struggle to know where they’re going.

We explore British and Western heritage, the traditional values that built strong families and communities, and what it would take to restore them. That means honest conversations about where our culture stands today, and a hopeful look at how to rebuild it, starting at home.

II — Pillar Two

Lifestyle design

Most people spend their lives escaping a routine they never chose. Lifestyle design is choosing it on purpose.

We look at work, money, health, time and home, and how to shape each one around what actually matters to you. Less consumption, more creation. Less dependence, more freedom.

Own your time

Build routines and work that give you your days back.

Build a real home

Create a household that produces as well as consumes.

Find your purpose

Replace drift with direction, discipline and meaningful goals.

III — Pillar Three

Self-reliance & traditional skills

Every skill you learn is one less thing you depend on someone else for.

Our grandparents could build, mend, grow, preserve and make do. We’re bringing those traditional skills back, from woodwork and building to foraging, food preservation and basic repairs, so you can become capable, confident and useful to the people around you.

IV — Pillar Four

Sustainability & permaculture

True conservation is conservative: look after the land, and it will look after your children.

Permaculture is a design system for growing food and building homes that work with nature rather than against it. We share practical ways to grow your own, build healthy soil, keep animals and steward the land, whether you have a windowsill, an allotment or a smallholding.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

The North Briton is a British podcast about culture, self-reliance, sustainability and lifestyle design. Each episode offers practical skills and ideas to help you build a life you don’t need to escape from.

It’s made mainly for young men aged 18 to 35 who feel the modern world has left them short of purpose, skills or hope. The ideas are for anyone who wants to live more independently and build something lasting.

Permaculture is a way of designing gardens, farms and homes so they work with nature. It focuses on healthy soil, perennial plants, saving water and closed-loop systems, so you get more food and resilience for less effort over time.

The “black pill” is the belief that things are hopeless and nothing can be done. We reject that. Our answer is to learn skills, build alternatives and take responsibility, starting with your own life.
